“Emergency response for conflict-affected most vulnerable IDPs and HCs in Mekelle, Tigray region of Ethiopia”

When the project implementation agreement was signed the number of beneficiaries was 150 from Host Communities and 150 from IDPs in Mekelle city. Back then the price of goods here in Mekelle was very expensive yet not much available however, after the peace agreement between the Tigray regional government and the federal government prices for food items and NFI was relatively better than before for this reason the budget that was allocated for 300 at the beginning of the project can now accommodate 700 households in the first round, 560 in the second round and 500 in the third and final round
1. Items for every Household are flour (15 KG), rice (3 KG), pulse (2.5 KG), ionized salt (1 KG), cooking oil (1L), 1 blanket (2 PCS 150cm*180cm), 1 bedding (160cm*180cm), 1 kg bathing soap (80g*13 PCS), 1.5kg laundry soap (250g * 6 PCS), and water purifier (5 Strips).
2. Distribution of clean water
- In three rounds 576,000 liters for three IDPs
3. Medical support for 300 vulnerable children in collaboration with the Seventh-day Adventist clinic
4. 73 Solar Radios with a memory stick for Seventh-Day Adventist School Students
To enable distance learning we have distributed 73 solar-powered radio sets with USB memory sticks which is estimated to impact at least 360 children’s the memory sticks were uploaded with Audio Books from 1st – 8th grade students.
Lola started responding by providing clean water for drinking and hygiene in November 2020. On 10 March, 221 we accepted an additional 20 children orphaned by the war in Tigray. Currently, we are in the process of scaling up our response to the emergency crisis.
